Thomas has a broad international experience in the fields of architecture and urbanism through varied practice and teaching. He has worked for the City Architects office in Kristiansand and Kauffmann Theilig & Partner in Stuttgart, Germany. After graduating, he was employed at Pei, Cobb, Freed & Partners in New York before joining Niels Torp Architects in Oslo. From 2001 to 2016 he ran his own practice; TBA Arkitekter in Oslo.
After joining NSW, Thomas has been involved in the new flagship store and national headquarters for H&M in Oslo, a new tower, lift and bridge in Arendal, a 16 story new headquarters for Orkla in Oslo, a road service centre, north of Oslo, studies for; a conference hotel / transport hub at Lysaker in Bærum, a conference hotel in Hamar, studies for the transformation of a large shipyard in Arendal as well as ongoing projects for the national airport authority – Avinor.
Thomas is a well-rounded architect and plays a central role in several of the offices ongoing projects as a project leader. He is an experienced user of BIM/ Revit, 3D-modelling, rendering and graphics tools and is an avid sketcher with a keen eye for architectural illustration.
He holds a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University, where he was nominated for best thesis and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a First-Class honours in Architecture from Manchester University, where he received a prize as best student and a nomination for the RIBA bronze medal for draughtsmanship in 1992. He also attended the 1991 Summer School at the AA - Architectural Association – A Re-Vision of London.
