Teknobyen, Trondheim
About
Prior to this project development, NSW was commissioned by Trondheim Næringsbygg (now KLP Eiendom) to prepare a master plan as a basis for a zoning plan for the Teknobyen area in Trondheim, at the intersection of the axis of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and The St. Olavs Hospital.

NSW was also commissioned to design the first building, Teknobyen Innovation Centre, which was completed in 2002.
KLP Eiendom invited entries to a limited architecture competition for the last two development phases. NSW`s entry was awarded first prize. The assignment was to provide an architectural solution, ensuring that the development potential in the property was maintained and revitalized and also create a modern property development, completing The Teknobyen Complex.
The vision underlying the competition was to create a campus for innovation and business, focusing on health, energy, the environment and ICT. The project area is located to the southwest of the Innovation Centre forming the two triangular areas of varying structural character.
The architecture is of varying form and volume with an identity and expression adapted to the area. This ensures a diverse and flexible building complex. A varied and challenging outdoor space runs through peaceful, sunny areas, adapted to the surrounding buildings and green spaces.
